This concept came about after having talked to people who having visited Thailand complained that they had not seen or visited half the places, they had wished to! In-fact they said they had found it difficult to find places or even get there!
One example was a family who asked a tuc tuc driver to take them to see the Emerald Buddha and in his own words, the father told me, not only did the driver not take us to see the Emerald Buddha, but also we must have visited every tailor and gem store in Bangkok!
I was told many similar stories some a little more serious.
