Welcome to Koh Chang, Thailand
With white sand beaches, waterfalls and coral reefs and more than 40 outlying islands, uncrowded Koh Chang is a relative newcomer to the scene. Pristine rainforest covers rugged, hilly Koh Chang, Thailand’s second largest island. Mangroves and beach forest line the shores, and the whole island supports a huge diversity of wildlife, including macaques, monitor lizards, pythons and barking deer. White-winged terns, nightjars and several species of hornbill are some indigenous birds; many others migrate here. |

For visitors interested in light-adventure activities such as cruising coastal waters, visiting notable sights such as the enchanting Emerald Cave, which is accessible only by water, will prove to be remarkable experience. Additional attractions include the Mu Ko Petra National Park with beaches and islands lapped by the warm waters of the Andaman Sea. There are also wildlife sanctuaries such as Namtok Khao Chong and Khlong Lamchan Park with waterfalls, nature trails and caves. For those looking for a relaxed, tranquil ambience, Koh Chang is a perfect place to unwind amidst stunning scenery. |
Diving around the island is best in the south, from November to April. There are good corals and marine life, and with a guide you can see the wreck of a Thai warship sunk in 1941 off Ao Salak Phet. Koh Chang Divers (Hat Sai Khao) and Seahorse Dive Center (Hat Kaibae) are popular PADI centers. |
